I have never been one to self promote my career, but reading the PR others have written about me in print throughout the years fills pages of scrap books I will leave behind for my children along with all the photos and awards and contracts and royalty checks.
I have spent most of my life running away from the spotlight on center stage, and would always somehow find myself landing there in spite of my wanting to avoid it.
I have walked the halls of some of the most prestigious Publishing Companies (Tree International, Play Publishing), recorded in some of the most sacred of all studios (RCA, Columbia, Bradley’s Barn, Ironsides) and hovered under the caring wings of some of the industries greatest artist of all time (Chet Atkins, Charlie Pride, Johnny Cash, Tom T. Hall, Dolly Parton, Freddy Fender, Producer Owen Bradley, Billy Sherrill, and my Producer, (the late Merle Kilgore) I never took the music business that seriously, and the more I tried to avoid getting caught up in all the hype and fleeting fame, the more it would catch up to me and send me running away once again.
I know there are so many young struggling artists who would sell everything just to experience one month of that trip to the top of the charts. I was always looking for something more solid, lasting and enduring like real friendships, family and the freedom to choose how my music would present itself.
The irony is, I was running away from what so many spend their lives running after, and yet I experienced one of the most successful and fulfilling musical careers any one could hope to have.
I present to you a few of my most treasured creations with hopes you will settle back for a minute, put your tired feet up, pour a glass of wine and perhaps sing along with me and smile.
With Much Love and Gratitude,
Sheleah Jenson
