Calling Out Closer

About Calling Out Closer:

Calling Out Closer took its first official breath of air with the dawn of
2008, based upon the foundation of years of musical exploration and
development between primary songwriters Ben Smither (keys) and Bryn Graybill
(guitar). The two also share the duties of lead vocals, backed up by a formidable rhythm section: bassist Chris Williamson, guitarist Scott Valenza, and drummer Ryan Graybill.

Calling Out Closer at soul asylum poetry

The band seeks to utilize its members' varied individual musical tastes, creating a fluid quality to its sound that is both purposive and thoughtful, yet involuntary and casual. The guys construct music in search of a place
where one instinctively belongs and yet remains compelled to create change. Familiar, yet new. Reminiscent, yet original.

Calling Out Closer similarly grounds its lyrics in the same vein, hoping to shed new light on old subjects such as love, hope, faith, neglect, despair, and doubt. But the common thread entwined throughout the band's work spins from a concrete belief in a God who fully exists in both the infinite and the intimate, in both the physical and spiritual.

This solidarity of purpose informs the band's present and future. For now, Calling Out Closer remains persistently patient as they seek the proper opportunities to move forward as a collective of musicians. In 2008, that included a last-minute entry and subsequent victory in a battle of the bands that landed them a spot at Purple Door Festival in Lewisberry, PA. The guys hope to continue to gather momentum throughout 2009, backed by their solid debut album "Stars and Broken Hearts" (released March 2008).

Calling Out Closer Live

"We're taking more and more steps to make this thing happen," Smither
asserts. Graybill agrees: "I've never been more excited about the band and
where we're headed, and I think the rest of the guys would say the same." The band confidently embraces the road ahead, focused on creating their own
interpretation of music that entertains and inspires with a purpose greater than entertainment and inspiration.
